“Now that restrictions are lifted, and we can have meetings with students from across the year groups, I am delighted to announce that I am relaunching the Photography Club. At it’s height, pre covid, the Photography Club had over 100 members from 1st to 6th year and I’d love to see it return to that. So here’s some information to help you decide if you’d like to join it.
The Photography Club is run by Ms Curtis and is open to all students from 1st to 6th year. You don’t need to own a camera or have any experience of photography to join, all you need is a phone and a willingness to learn a new skill. It’s a great opportunity for students to shine, make new friends and learn a new skill. The Photography Club normally have an annual exhibition in the Droichead Arts Centre and while it won’t be happening this year it will most certainly be making a return next year. There’s an annual fee of €20 to join. As this covers the cost of printing and framing 2 photos for the exhibition it will be waived this year. We have weekly meetings where we discuss the selected 3 themes for the week and give feedback and constructive criticism of the previous weeks entries. The senior members normally mentor the junior members on any outings we may have.
To join come to our 1st meeting of the year in L2 tomorrow at 11:05am. Alternatively you can email rcurtis@stmarysds.ie and will be added to a Microsoft Team where announcements and updates will be made regularly. This is where you’ll post your photos each week too and get feedback from your peers.
Still not sure if you want to join? Come to the meeting anyway and get chatting to the lads who have been in it for years to help you decide. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.”
